Uniting for Meaningful Change

Welcome to Community Initiatives for Collective Impact or Ci4Ci (“see for see”). We join diverse people, ideas, and resources to address the most pressing social and environmental justice priorities of communities.

The prosperity of our communities — really, of our planet — depends on our ability to understand and work with each other toward our shared goals. For ourselves, for our families, for all we serve — we know that our success relies on organizing ourselves across personal and cultural differences and disagreements.

Ci4Ci was created for this purpose. To join the views, resources, and assets of diverse people and organizations for the greater common good. Our team includes people with experience, commitment, and drive toward this purpose.

We believe that meaningful, lasting improvement to societal problems happens through collaboration between people living those problems and people trained to solve those problems. Our roots start in 2002 when community members throughout the San Joaquin Valley came together to develop a formal, intentional partnership around social and environmental justice with the first research university in our region: the University of California, Merced.

Our founders helped to establish the Community Partnership Alliance (CPA) and first-ever community benefit agreement with UC Merced, known as the Community Pledge. Our goal then and now is to ensure that local people served by the new research university would be engaged as equal benefactors and partners toward community improvement.

Over the last 20 years, Ci4Ci has grown and evolved into a non-profit, grassroots organization led by a partnership between community, academic, and business leaders with decades of experience and service in the region.

Fostering Initiatives for Transformative Impact

Ci4Ci catalyzes and nurtures community-led initiatives working on priorities of those communities. Communities are groups of people sharing concerns and space. Each initiative seeks to transform social and environmental conditions for measurable impact. We welcome a chance to share more information about current initiatives and ways to support initiatives that matter to your community.
